Cease marketing
Stops and, if desired, resumes the processing or marketing of customer data.
About this task
This feature only restricts or resumes the marketing of customer data, ensuring that customers don't receive any messaging or outcomes associated with campaign. Customer are also exempted from inclusion or export in any audiences. Note that this function will not restrict activity in loyalty programs. Customers can continue to earn points, offers or reward store access from non-campaign opportunities. They can advance within a tier system and redeem offers issued to their wallet at checkout.
Prerequisites
This workflow is initiated by an end customer submitting a request restrict processing your company. You then work through your validation process and determine that the request is legitimate. (The validation process not determined by SessionM).
Restrict processing to cease marketing

Retrieve the end customer profile on the Search For Customers page in the Customers module.

Navigate to the Data Privacy tab which defaults to the Overview sub-tab. In the Data Privacy Options table, click Pause for the Cease Marketing feature.
You are prompted to confirm that the end customer’s identity has been validated.

Check I have verified the customer's identity and click Cease Marketing.
You are prompted to confirm that you want to cease marketing to the customer's account.
- Click Yes, Cease Marketing.
SessionM processes the request and updates the Current Data Privacy Status to "Cease Marketing Processing - Completed." In addition, the end customer’s data privacy status is changed to “Ceased” upon completion of the request. This status is used to block processing activities within the SessionM platform for audience and campaign inclusion, as well as for application access managed by SessionM identity services.
Reinstate processing to resume marketing

Retrieve the end customer profile on the Search For Customers page in the Customers module.

Navigate to the Data Privacy tab which defaults to the Overview sub-tab. In the Data Privacy Options table, click Resume for the Cease Marketing feature.
You are prompted to confirm that the end customer’s identity has been validated.

Check I have verified the customer's identity and click Resume Marketing.
You are prompted to confirm that you want to resume marketing for the customer's account.
- Click Yes, Resume Marketing.
SessionM processes the request and updates the Current Data Privacy Status to "Resume Marketing Processing- Completed." In addition, the end customer’s data privacy status of “Ceased” is removed upon completion of the request.
