Minimum Spend Amount
The Minimum Spend Amount restriction specifies the smallest dollar amount that members can spend in one or more transaction and earn the outcome.
The value for total amount is determined by taking the sum of all the item totals. Taxes may or may not be included in the total amount. During system setup, the SessionM delivery team determines whether your loyalty program includes or excludes taxes when calculating the total amount. Contact your SessionM Customer Success representative for information on how your loyalty program handles taxes.
Make sure that you specify a value for the Minimum Spend Amount restriction that replaces the default value of 1 cent. Leaving the default value in place can lead to situations where an outcome is awarded for each penny spent.
Events for which this is a core restriction
Example
A pet store is running a promotion on cat litter. Members who spend at least $75 on cat litter during the month of May earn a reward. This loyalty program does not include the cost of taxes in the total dollar value of purchases.
A member makes the following purchases of cat litter in May:
-
On May 5, purchases $35.00 worth of cat litter, with $3 in taxes
-
On May 30, purchases $35.00 worth of cat litter, with $3 in taxes
-
Item subtotal amount: $70.00
-
Taxes: $6.00
The total value of the transactions for May is $70, since taxes are not included. Therefore, the member does not earn the reward, since the total value is less than the $75 specified as the minimum spend amount.
