Configure behaviors for tier level
Configure the rules governing behaviors that stipulate the benefits customers receive in a particular type of tier level. Each type of behavior governs some aspect of how customers interact with tier levels.
Entrance behaviors must be met by the customer to qualify for a tier level.
- On the tab of the active tier level, locate the Tier Entrance Behavior section.
- At the right side of the section, click +Entrance Behavior to expand the associated Rule Builder and Outcomes fields.
- If you want to permit customers entrance into a tier and receive some associated outcome automatically without performing a behavior, click No rules to evaluate. Then proceed to step 9.
- In the rule builder, select the condition from the dropdown that by default displays "All must be true." Additional choices include "Any must be true" and "None can be true."
- Expand +Customer Rule and, from the Customer Must section, select an action for the rule.
If you select Complete (transactions), the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Transactions field appear below. Use these fields to specify the number of transactions you want the customer to complete for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must complete "Greater than or equal to 5 transactions" or "Exactly 5 transactions." Note that for either of the "less than" options, the count cannot be zero. Click Save.
- If you select Complete (events), two sets of fields display:
- "Event symbol," for which you can click Choose event to select the event that the customer must complete.
- "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Times field. Use these fields to specify the number of times you want the customer to complete the event for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must complete the event "Less than or equal to 3 times" or "Exactly 3 times." Note that for either of the "less than" options, the count cannot be zero.
Then click Save.
If you select Have current point balance, the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Points field appear below. Use these fields to specify the number of points you want the customer to have for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must have "Greater than or equal to 15 points" or "Exactly 15 points." Click Save.
If you select Earn (points), the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Points field appear below. Use these fields to specify the number of points you want the customer to earn for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must earn "Greater than or equal to 15 points" or "Exactly 15 points." Note that for either of the "less than" options, the count cannot be zero. Click Save.
If you select Spend (points), the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Points field appear below. Use these fields to specify the number of points you want the customer to spend for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must spend "Greater than or equal to 10 points" or "Exactly 10 points." Note that for either of the "less than" options, the count cannot be zero. Click Save.
- If you select Spend (currency), the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Amount field appear below. Use these fields to specify the amount of currency you want the customer to spend for entrance into the tier level. For example, they must spend "Greater than or equal to an amount 25" or "Exactly an amount of 25." Note that for either of the "less than" options, the count cannot be zero. Click Save.
- If you want to configure any constraints for the rule, click +Constraint. For detailed information on the constraints available for a rule, see .

If you want to add more rules for this behavior, repeat steps 5 - 6.
- If you want to configure a rule group, click +Rule Group. This action opens fields for a new rule group. Name the rule group and then configure new rules and constraints for the group.
- If you want to configure the frequency with which a customer can earn entrance to the tier level, click Outcome limit not set. This opens the Frequency Settings modal, where you can limit how often customers can earn an entrance outcome. For more information, see Configure frequency settings for tier entrance and maintenance.
- Configure the outcomes you want associated with the behavior. Your choices include:
- When you are done configuring rules for the Tier Entrance Behavior, click Save in the bottom right-hand corner of the Rule Builder section.
Purchase behaviors provide customers with benefits when they make purchases within a tier level.
- On the tab of the active tier level, locate the Tier Purchase Behavior section.
- At the right side of the section, click +Purchase Behavior to expand the associated Rule Builder and Outcomes fields.
- In the rule builder, select the condition from the dropdown that by default displays "All must be true." Additional choices include "Any must be true" and "None can be true."
- Since the behavior must contain a "Make a purchase" rule, you should define the purchase rule first; later, you can supplement the purchase rule with other rules. Click Save.
- Configure any constraints you want to refine the purchase rule. For detailed information on the constraints available for a purchase rule, see .

Now, with the purchase rule configured, you can define additional rules that work in tandem with it. Expand Customer Rule and, from the Customer Must section, select an action for the rule.
- If you want, you can add another "Make a purchase" action by selecting Make a purchase again and clicking Save.
- If you select Complete (transactions), the "Greater than or equal to" dropdown and the Transactions field appear below. Event behaviors provide benefits when customers complete event-based behaviors within a tier level.
- On the tab of the active tier level, locate the Tier Event Behavior section.
- At the right side of the section, click +Event Behavior to expand the associated Rule Builder and Outcomes fields.
- In the rule builder, select the condition from the dropdown that by default displays "All must be true." Additional choices include "Any must be true" and "None can be true."
- Since the behavior must contain a Trigger an event" rule, you should define the event trigger rule first; later, you can supplement it with other rules.
- Click Choose event to open the Choose Event modal and select a trigger event.
- Configure any constraints you want to refine the event trigger rule. For detailed information on the constraints available for a purchase rule, see .

- If you want to enable customers to remain a tier and receive some associated outcome automatically without performing a behavior, click No rules to evaluate. Then proceed to step 9.
